In January 2024, the UK Government announced a disposable vape ban, set to take effect by June 2025. As passionate vaping advocates, we set out to design a device as convenient as a disposable but sustainable enough to remain on the market, significantly reducing waste.

By July 2024, our product development was thriving. Our in-house designers collaborated closely with manufacturing partners to strike the perfect balance of cutting-edge technology and user-friendly simplicity. We aimed for a modern, stylish device that broke free from the conventional look of traditional disposables and bulky puff pod systems, creating a sleek design users would be proud to carry in their pocket.

By mid-2024, our product was taking shape, and we were refining and troubleshooting key areas for improvement. It was time to name our device and build its brand identity. After hours of brainstorming, we chose a name that was instantly recognizable, reflecting our vibrant, upbeat culture.
Hula
Is Born
With final approval from the team, the name settled, and the logo and packaging finalised, HULA was officially born. Launching with 10 vibrant flavours, available in kit form and pre-filled pods, HULA is ready to make its mark.

WASTING LESS
In 2025, an estimated 426 million disposable vapes were purchased in the UK, with a single-use lithium-ion battery. Containing toxic lithium, cobalt, and nickel, they harm the environment by leaching into soil and water if improperly disposed of. Disposables also drove a 93% rise in lithium-ion battery fires from 2022/24.
EDUCATION
Here at HULA, we know big changes can feel overwhelming, intimidating, and spark anxiety for many. That’s why we’re simplifying the switch with clear educational posts and videos, demonstrating how HULA works and proving it’s just as quick and easy to use as a single-use device.
A NEW ERA
The single-use vape industry was valued at approximately £2.8 billion in 2024. The ban impacts hundreds of independent UK stores reliant on disposable vape sales. Here at HULA, we’ve developed a solution to help these stores easily transition their single-use stock to our sustainable HULA devices.
